Who Is Raymond Boodarian? Suspect Arrested in American Idol Music Supervisor Robin Kaye’s Murder Case

Los Angeles authorities have arrested 22-year-old Raymond Boodarian, a neighbor in Encino, in connection with the double homicide of veteran American Idol music supervisor Robin Kaye and her husband, musician Thomas Deluca, both aged 70. The couple was tragically found shot in their upscale home on July 14, following a welfare check by concerned relatives 

Investigators believe Boodarian entered the couple’s property on July 10 by climbing a backyard fence and slipping in through an unlocked door or broken glass—previous police patrols did not detect him despite calls about suspicious activity on that day. Police say the suspect stayed inside the home until the couple returned around 30 minutes later, triggering a fatal confrontation in which both were shot multiple times.

Surveillance footage, physical evidence, and forensic analysis quickly led to Boodarian’s arrest on July 16, carried out by a joint task force of the LAPD and FBI. He was taken into custody without incident and is being held without bail on suspicion of murder Robin Kaye was a revered figure in the entertainment industry, having shaped the musical direction of American Idol since 2009 and worked on numerous TV shows and pageants, including Lip Sync Battle, Hollywood Game Night, and Miss Universe events. She also founded the music licensing firm SyncroniCity and earlier held positions at MCA‑Universal and PolyGram Thomas Deluca was a veteran musician and songwriter, with a career spanning decades and a release as recent as 2022 titled Street Rock In the weeks leading to their deaths, neighbors say the couple had experienced break-in attempts and Robin had expressed concern for her safety to a local Beverly Hills security firm. That heightened alertness now casts their deaths in an even more chilling light, as police work to determine whether Boodarian had any personal motive or merely acted at random 

The entertainment community, especially the American Idol family, is in mourning. Producers described Robin as “a cornerstone of the Idol family,” with colleagues and fans paying tribute to her indelible influence on popular TV music

With the suspect in custody, investigators continue to dig into the timeline, evidence, and possible motives behind this senseless act. Authorities urge anyone with information to come forward as the investigation unfolds .
