New Delhi : On 28 November 2025, Delhi Fashion Club, in association with VOY Media & Events, successfully organised Delhi Fashion Week 2025 at the YMCA Tourist Hotel, Connaught Place. This edition proudly showcased the 7th Edition of International Reinvent Northeast, a flagship initiative by VOY Media & Events, which has been promoting the culture, fashion, music, and talent of Northeast India for over 10 years. The segment blended cultural storytelling with fashion and live music, creating a powerful platform for regional representation on a national scale.
A standout moment of the event was the electrifying performance by SKUBO, the celebrated Meghalayan fusion band performing under the CM-MGMP (Chief Minister’s Meghalaya Grassroots Music Project). Their high-energy set opened the Meghalaya Tourism Grand Showcase, bringing a fresh wave of indie/funk rock, alt-pop, and tribal rhythms to the Delhi runway. Their music perfectly aligned with the mission of International Reinvent Northeast—celebrating the identity, beauty, and creativity of the Northeast through contemporary artistic expression.
Formed in the late 2010s, Skubo has grown into one of Meghalaya’s most promising young collectives. Their name, “Skubo,” signifies wishing, longing, and standing for what you love—an ethos deeply reflected in their music. At Delhi Fashion Week 2025, the band created a rare synergy between modern sound and traditional roots, enhancing the presentation of Garo, Khasi, and Jaintia handloom collections supported by Meghalaya Tourism. Their performance added an emotional and cultural depth to the runway experience.
The band’s distinctive sound is shaped by six dynamic artists: Peter Corda R. Marak (Vocals), known for his soulful and commanding voice; Paulina Ch. Marak (Vocals), whose harmonies elevate the band’s melodic layers; Marshall Saku A. Sangma (Guitars) and Mikrasil M. Sangma (Guitars), whose dual-guitar interplay forms the backbone of Skubo’s fusion style; Ramreithing Kaping (Drums), delivering explosive rhythmic energy; and Richard N. Marak (Bass), anchoring every performance with a deep, steady groove. Together, they create a sound that is modern yet firmly rooted in their cultural heritage.
Skubo’s performance portfolio continues to expand across major stages, including the National Day of Uzbekistan at the Embassy in New Delhi, the Meghalaya Grassroots Rhythms showcase at India Gate, the Pineapple Festival at Dilli Haat, Big Basement Jam, and now Delhi Fashion Week 2025. Their rise reflects the growing national recognition of Meghalaya’s evolving independent music landscape and the talent emerging from the Northeast.
